It was announced on July 23rd that the movie "Beyond Dimensions" (directed by Toyoda Toshiaki), co-starring actors Kubozuka Yosuke and Ryuhei Matsuda, will be released on October 17th at Eurospace (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) and other venues. Kubozuka plays a monk and Matsuda plays an assassin, and the story is said to be a grand human tale that transcends time and space, running through the past, present and future.
This is director Toyoda's first full-length fictional work in about seven years since "Crybaby Shottan's Miracle" (2018), and it has been billed as "a shocking work that questions our chaotic times, a culmination of his filmmaking career, and reaches new heights."
The main cast includes Chihara Junior, Imo Yu, Shibukawa Kiyohiko, Higashide Masahiro, as well as regular cast members from Toyota's productions such as Itsuji Itao, Kirara Inori, Airu Airu Kubozuka, Danko Iida, and Mame Yamada.
The released trailer shows scenes of the ascetic Yamanaka Rosuke (Kubota), who walks with a long staff, and the murderous assassin Niino Kaze (Matsuda), meeting at "Rosozan", as well as the two of them crossing dimensions to confront each other in the "Mirror Cave". At the end of the trailer, there is a mysterious scene where Rosuke wakes up with a start, along with the line, "Where do people come from, and where are they going?"
