Singer Koji Tamaki appeared as part of a special program at the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, held at the NHK Hall in Shibuya, Tokyo on New Year's Eve last year. He performed "Fanfare," the theme song for the TBS Sunday Theatre drama "The Royal Family," on television for the first time.
After singing one phrase of "Pastoral," the studio shifted. The orchestra began playing, and Tamaki took up his guitar and passionately sang "Fanfare."
Comments on social media include, "It gave me goosebumps," "It reminded me of the drama and I almost cried," "The moment the intro started I couldn't stop crying," "The power of the song is amazing," and "Izanya!"
The theme of the 76th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen was "Connecting, Connecting, New Year's Eve," and the event was hosted by Hiroiki Ariyoshi, Haruka Ayase, Mio Imada, and announcer Naoko Suzuki.
