To commemorate the 30th anniversary of the serialization of Shuichi Shigeno's popular manga "Initial D," a collaborative advertisement by seven car manufacturers was unveiled in the basement of Shibuya Station. In collaboration with Suzuki, Subaru, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Mazda, and Mitsubishi Motors, the series and the seven manufacturers proclaim their "love for cars," saying, "I'm glad you love cars," and "So do we."
The giant advertisement, about 22 meters long, features illustrations of cars that appeared in the work and the logos of seven companies. It also features a newly drawn illustration of "Project D". It will be on sale until June 15th.
"Initial D" is a manga that depicts Takumi Fujiwara, who used to help out with deliveries at his family's tofu shop, becoming a street racer in an AE86. It was serialized in "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) from 1995 to 2013.
