Four character promotional videos have been released for "ChaO" (directed by Yasuhiro Aoki, scheduled for release on August 15th), the new animated film from STUDIO4℃, known for anime films such as "Tekkonkinkreet" and "Children of the Sea." The film depicts the love story between a human and a mermaid in a future society where humans and mermaids coexist. Promotional videos for unique characters have been unveiled, including President See, who strongly pushes for the marriage between protagonist Stefan and mermaid princess Chao, the role of rookie reporter Juno and the editor-in-chief, Chao's father King Neptune, and Ambassador Omede.
Ryota Yamazato of the comedy duo Nankai Candies will play President C, Kukkie of Wild Bomb will play the Omede Ambassador, Shunsei Ota of the boy band OCTPATH will play the rookie reporter Juno, model and talent Anna Tsuchiya will play the editor-in-chief, and voice actor Kenta Miyake will play King Neptune.
In the PV's President Shi version, President Shi's cunningness is comically expressed as he plots to use Stefan and Chao's marriage for business purposes and assists the two in various ways to set up a date. In the Juno and Editor-in-Chief version, Juno, a novice reporter who struggles to interview Stefan to unravel the history of humans and mermaids, and the editor-in-chief who mentors him, appear.
In the King Neptune arc, we see the king's doting fatherly side as he gets angry at Stefan for trying to use Chao. In the Omede Ambassador arc, the Omede Ambassador is shown picking his nose the whole time while congratulating Stefan and Chao on their marriage.
Yamazato, who plays President C, said, "He's a character I love because he has a lot in common with me," and in the trailer he plays a sly character who can't hide his ulterior motives with great charm.
Ota, who plays the role of rookie reporter Juno, said, "She is a charming character who works hard at what she loves," while Tsuchiya, who plays the role of the editor-in-chief, said, "I'm also a strong person, so I was fascinated by this character."
