"The House in the Middle of Nowhere" (ABC TV/TV Asahi, Sunday 7:58pm) is a variety show that uses satellite photos to find a secluded house. The May 18th broadcast will follow a livestock farm in Gifu Prefecture that raises Tobida beef. The guests will be Fujiki Naoto and Nao Matsushita, who are the MCs of "Asa Da! Live Travel Salad" (same station), as in the previous episode.
The search team received information from a woodworker (78) who helped them in the previous search (broadcast on May 11) that "the cousin's house is also a single house," so this time they headed there. After walking along a road lined with trees along the mountain valley, they arrived at a large cowshed. A 79-year-old man and his son (58) welcomed them with smiles. There, about 110 black Japanese cows called "Hida cows" were being raised.
However, the man had a very hard time before he was able to become a livestock farmer. He worked the night shift at an automobile factory while continuing his livestock business. His son and his wife have now taken over the family business, and he lives in the area with his son's family.
The man's wife (80) smiles as she looks back on their 50-year-plus marriage, saying, "We did everything together, from carrying straw to raising the cows." She smiles at the hard work of her son and his wife. The trailer shows Hida beef running around the "exercise field" in the cowshed and serving the search team the finest beef dishes.
