New stills from the movie "National Treasure" (directed by Lee Sang-il, to be released on June 6th), starring actor Ryo Yoshizawa and co-starring Ryusei Yokohama, were released on May 13th. The 16 stills, including a kabuki dance scene, show Kikuo (Yoshizawa) dancing brilliantly in a furisode kimono with a black hat from the play "Futari Dojoji".
The film is based on the same-titled novel by Shuichi Yoshida, known for "Parade" and "Park Life." It depicts the turbulent life of the protagonist Kikuo, who was born into a family of yakuza but chose to live as a kabuki actor. Set in postwar Japan during the period of rapid economic growth, Kikuo, who was born into a family of yakuza but was adopted by the family of kabuki actor Hanjiro Hanai (Ken Watanabe), meets Hanjiro's heir, Shunsuke (Yokohama), and the epic story unfolds as the two men of opposing bloodlines risk their lives to devote their lives to the arts.
The kabuki dance scenes released this time include Shunsuke dancing gracefully using a red flower hat and triple swinging hat from "Futari Dojoji," Hanjiro playing the powerful father lion spirit from "Renjishi," and Manju (Tanaka Min) playing the heron spirit struggling with the sadness of love in the pouring snow from "Sagi Musume."
Starting from learning to walk straight, they carefully train every move and then perform magnificent dance moves in the play.
