In preparation for the opening of the "GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION," a pavilion for the popular anime series "Gundam," which will appear at the Expo 2025(Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan), Director Yoshiyuki Tomino, known as the creator of the series, has sent a message.
Director Tomino commented, "In truth, everything you saw at 'GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION' is still just a dream. Although it is a dream, it is important that I can say, 'This possibility exists, so please don't despair about the future.'"
"It's very important to get the feeling that the future is not completely bleak. When you come into contact with the research and visions that lead to that future, you can feel hope that there will be work that needs to be done for the future of humanity, even 50 or 100 years from now. In that sense, I think that 'GUNDAM NEXT FUTURE PAVILION' is a wonderful exhibit at the Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan. I hope that many people will see it and raise awareness about the future and potential of humanity."
The full comments will be published in the pavilion's guidebook, which will be released on April 13th.
The Gundam Pavilion will present the Gundam series' depictions of "life in space" and "science and technology that has yet to be realized" as new possibilities for the future, with completely new images and other content. Visitors can easily travel to the space station using an orbital elevator, and experience a "future where living in space has become commonplace," where mobile suits (MS) and humans coexist.
A life-sized Gundam statue, "RX-78F00/E Gundam" will be installed. It is approximately 17 meters tall and weighs 49.1 tons. It stands with its knees raised and arms raised, and is not movable. It has its hands raised high into space, gazing into the future beyond, expressing the Gundam's appearance of pioneering a new space age together with humanity. The Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan will be held from April 13th to October 13th at Yumeshima in Osaka.
