The latest installment of the popular anime series "Gundam", "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuX", will be broadcast on Nippon TV every Tuesday at 12:29am starting April 8th. It is also attracting attention as it is the first collaboration between Sunrise, which produces the "Gundam" series, and Khara, known for the "Evangelion" series. Kazuya Tsurumaki will be the director, Yoji Enokido will be in charge of series composition, and Ikuto Yamashita will be in charge of mechanical design.
The theatrical advance version of "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-", which reconstructs some of the episodes, began screening on January 17th, and as of March 31st had proven a hit, grossing 3.34 billion yen and attracting an audience of over 2.02 million people.
The protagonist, high school girl Amate Yuzuruha (Machu), lives a peaceful life in a space colony floating in space, but after meeting a war refugee girl named Nyaan, she becomes embroiled in an illegal mobile suit duel competition, the Clan Battle. The protagonist's mobile suit, GQuuuuuuX, is a mysterious state-of-the-art mobile suit piloted by Amate Yuzuruha, and participates in the Clan Battle as a mobile suit belonging to the Pomeranians. At the same time, an unidentified mobile suit Gundam, which is being pursued by both the space military and the police, and its pilot, a boy named Shuuji, appear before Machu.
