All 13 episodes of the TV anime "Descending Stories: Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju," based on the popular manga by Haruko Kumota, which depicts the lives of people who have dedicated their souls to rakugo, are available for free on YouTube. To commemorate the release of the final volume 5 of the new edition of the original comic on April 11, the TV anime will be available for free. The time limit is until May 4.
"Showa Genroku Rakugo Shinju" is a manga themed on Kumota's rakugo, serialized in the manga magazine "ITAN" (Kodansha). Set in the Showa era, it depicts the human drama of the solitary master Yakumo Yurakutei, Yotaro who barges in and becomes his apprentice, and Konatsu, the only child of Yakumo's ally Sukeroku, who was praised as a "master of the ages."
A TV anime series was broadcast in 2016 and 2017, and a live-action drama starring actor Masaki Okada was broadcast from October to December 2018.
