An event for " Black Butler : The Emerald Witch Arc ," the sequel to " Black Butler : Public School Arc ," an anime series based on Yana Toboso 's manga, was held on March 23rd at AnimeJapan 2025, one of the world's largest anime events, held at Tokyo Big Sight (Koto-ku, Tokyo). In addition to Daisuke Ono Black Butler , who plays the main character Sebastian Michaelis , the cast of "Servants," including Yuki Kaji, who plays the Phantomhive family servants, Emiri Kato as Mey-Rin, Hiroki Tochi as Baldroy, and Takuma Terashima as Snake, gathered. Ono smiled and said, "I feel relieved," and was happy to be "rewarded by Black Butler again."
The work has also attracted attention as a new TV anime series, "Black Butler : Public School Arc," which was broadcast from April to June 2024, the first in about 10 years. The sequel, "Black Butler : Emerald Witch Arc," will be broadcast on TOKYO MX and other channels from April 5th.
Ono said, "I've been a part of ' Black Butler' for a long time. This was my first time experiencing being the leader of a troupe, and I didn't know what to do. (Sakamoto) Maaya was by my side, and the servants were all so kind. I think that's what has connected me to where I am today." He continued, "' Black Butler' is a lifelong thing. We are prepared to continue performing for the rest of our lives."
He continued, "I have no intention of stopping here," and said that "Black Butler : The Emerald Witch Arc" is "the true essence of Black Butler. It is being made carefully with the desire to convey the passion of humans living their lives to the fullest." Finally, just like Sebastian, he said, "What would I do if I couldn't do something as simple as that? I am a butler after all."
"Black Butler" is a manga that has been serialized in "Monthly G Fantasy" (Square Enix) since September 2006. Set in the prestigious British aristocratic family, the Phantomhive family, the story depicts the exploits of Sebastian, the perfect butler who serves his spoiled 13-year-old master, Ciel.
The first season of the TV anime aired from October 2008 to March 2009, followed by "Black Butler II" from July to September 2010 and "Black Butler Book of Circus" from July to September 2014. The movie version, "Black Butler Book of the Atlantic", was released in January 2017. A live-action movie starring Hiro Mizushima and Ayame Goriki was also released in 2014. The series has sold over 35 million copies in total.
The story of "Black Butler - The Emerald Witch Arc" is that Sebastian and Ciel are ordered by the Queen to investigate mysterious deaths occurring in Germany. As they investigate the truth about the "Werewolf Forest," where anyone who steps foot inside is cursed to death, a terrible curse falls upon them.
