It has been announced that Kanato Tsukishiro, a former top star of the Takarazuka Revue's Moon Troupe, will appear in the TBS Sunday Theatre "Caster" (Sundays at 9pm) which will start in April. This will be Tsukishiro's first appearance in a serial drama since leaving the Takarazuka Revue.
The drama is a social entertainment drama set in a TV news program, where the truth buried in the darkness is pursued and evil is punished. Shindo Soichi (Abe Hiroshi), a man who believes that "the truth moves the world!", is a reporter and newscaster in the social affairs department of a public broadcasting station, but is poached by the president of the commercial TV station JBN and becomes the main newscaster of "Newsgate", a news program suffering from low ratings. In order to "communicate the truth", he will use any means necessary, conducting interviews and investigations according to his own rules, without caring about existing rules. He draws in those around him with his overwhelming presence.
Tsukishiro plays Koike Nami, a JBN announcer who calmly responds to Shindo's words and actions, and a sub-caster for the program. This is Tsukishiro's first role as an announcer, and she has been taking announcing lessons and visiting the news department in advance to prepare for the role.
Tsukishiro commented, "Watching Abe-san and Nagano (Mei)-san's acting up close, every day is filled with stimulation and learning. Each episode is one you won't want to miss, as we wonder what the people involved with 'Newsgate' think about Shindo. I will do my best to make use of what I have accumulated and show a new side of myself, so I hope you will all look forward to it."
