Hayato Sumino, a pianist with a unique career who graduated from the University of Tokyo Graduate School, will appear on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on March 4th at 1pm. The 29-year-old, who lives in New York, USA, was awarded the Leonard Bernstein Award this year in recognition of his diverse activities.
He started learning piano from her mother, a piano teacher, at the age of three, and on her birthday in July last year, he held a solo concert at the Nippon Budokan (Chiyoda Ward, Tokyo), attracting 13,000 people. His parents, who came to see the concert, were delighted.
Although he spends his busy days traveling around the world, he treasures his ties with his family, such as traveling with them when he has time. He visited his father's hometown this year and said he was very happy to meet his 91-year-old grandfather. Last year, he released his world debut album. He also reveals that he has made some unexpected friends while receiving various stimuli.
