It has been revealed that actress Anna Ishii will be appearing in the TV Asahi drama series "PJ ~Aviation Rescue Team~" (Thursdays at 9pm) which starts on April 24th. She will play Sayaka Fujiki, the only female trainee. A visual of her with a short haircut has also been released.
The drama, starring Seiyo Uchino, is an original story that focuses on the Air Self-Defense Force's Air Rescue Wing, commonly known as PJ (pararescue jumpers), who carry out rescue operations under harsh conditions during accidents and disasters. The story depicts trainees who passed the extremely difficult selection test to become PJ members facing the extremely harsh "hellish" training under the strict and unconventional chief instructor Seiji Usami (Uchino).
Sayaka, played by Ishii, is a highly athletic girl who has been active since she was a child and achieved national top rankings in swimming during her high school years. She has no close friends and has never been afraid of death. To test herself, she enlists in the Japan Air Self-Defense Force. After learning about the existence of the rescue team, she passed the selection test, which only a few people passed, and became the first woman to pass.
She throws herself into the role of Sayaka, a girl who devotes herself to training with abilities that are on par with the male trainees.
It was also announced that Fuju Kamio, Maeda Kentaro, Watanabe Aoto, Kusama Richard Keita, Inukai Takato, and Maeda Oshiro will appear as trainees.
The Komaki Air Base Air Show will be held on March 2nd at the Komaki Air Base of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture), where filming for the film is taking place, and will feature a talk show starting at 11:00 a.m., featuring lead actor Uchino and other trainee cast members (Kusama will be absent due to scheduling conflicts).
