The seven cast members playing trainee roles in the TV Asahi drama series "PJ ~Aviation Rescue Team~" (Thursdays at 9pm, starting April 24th), starring actor Seiyo Uchino, have been announced. Other cast members who will appear include Kentaro Maeda, star of "Kamen Rider Revise," Atsuhiro Inukai, star of "Kamen Rider Build," and Aoto Watanabe, who gained attention for his role in "Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger."
The drama is an original story that focuses on the Air Self-Defense Force Aviation Rescue Wing, commonly known as PJ (pararescue jumpers), who carry out rescue operations under harsh conditions during accidents and disasters. Maeda plays Shirakawa Tomoki, a tough man with outstanding abilities who is relied upon by the other trainees, Inukai plays Tokairin Yuki, the only trainee with a wife and children who is appointed as the student council president, and Watanabe plays Hasebe Tatsuya, who rebels against his father, a senior officer in the Self-Defense Forces, and aspires to become a rescue worker.
It was also announced that Fuju Kamio, Anna Ishii, Keita Kusama from "Ae! group", and Oshiro Maeda from the comedy duo "Maeda Maeda" will appear. Kamio will play Sawai Jin, who was lost in the mountains as a child and rescued by an air rescue team, Ishii will play Fujiki Sayaka, who has high athletic ability, Kusama will play Nishitani Randy, a mood maker, and Maeda will play Kondo Mamoru, who is a bit of a softie and has a natural personality.
The Komaki Air Base Air Show will be held on March 2nd at the Komaki Air Base of the Japan Air Self-Defense Force (Komaki City, Aichi Prefecture), where filming for the film is taking place, and will feature a talk show starting at 11:00 a.m. featuring lead actor Uchino and the trainee cast (Kusama will be absent due to scheduling conflicts).
