Comedian Eiko Kano will be a guest on the talk variety show "Stories That Make Great Snacks for Drinking" (Fuji TV, Friday 9:58pm) airing on February 21st.
Kano, whose family home is a Shinto shrine, says he has been asked many times about the difference between a shrine and a temple. On the show, he emphatically states, "Shrines worship gods, while temples worship Buddhas, so the beings they worship are completely different!"
Then, Goto Terumoto from "Football Hour" asked a follow-up question, "What is the difference between God and Buddha?", to which Kano replied angrily, "That's why!" Then, he said, "When people don't quite understand the difference, I try to explain that they are the beginning and the end," and the meaning behind this was revealed.
On this day, Wang Lin, Shinhama Leon, and Hara Susumu will also be making guest appearances.
