Actor Junki Tozuka will make his first appearance on Tetsuko Kuroyanagi's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi) on February 18th at 1pm. He is currently 32 years old. Last year, he appeared in the NHK Asadora drama "The Tiger and Her Wings" as a classmate of the main character. He became a hot topic on social media, where he was nicknamed "our Todoroki."
Totsuka-san is from Iwate Prefecture. In high school, he aimed to become a car mechanic and acquired 10 qualifications. However, his mother wanted him to go into showbiz, so he auditioned for the Junon Super Boy Contest, but contrary to his own expectations, he ended up winning the award.
He wasn't very keen on the entertainment industry, but it was the Great East Japan Earthquake that changed his mind. He says that being affected by the disaster and feeling death close to him for the first time gave him the drive to take on new opportunities. His mother's thoughts at the time as she sent her son off to Tokyo from the disaster area are also revealed.
