The LOVE POCKET FUND, jointly run by Atarashii Chizu, a group that includes Goro Inagaki, Tsuyoshi Kusanagi, and Shingo Katori, and the Nippon Foundation, has decided to donate 131,057,301 yen as part of the 5th installment of the Noto Peninsula Earthquake Relief Project of 2024.
The support will be used to set up "Community BASE Urushihara (tentative name)" in the center of Wajima City, Ishikawa Prefecture, which was hit by the earthquake and torrential rains. The facility will be established in Kawai-cho, Wajima City, as a place where local residents of all ages, mainly the elderly, reconstruction support workers, and medical workers can come and interact on a daily basis. Construction to set up the base will begin this spring and is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
The grant funds will be broken down into 82,577,941 yen for construction costs (including fixtures and equipment and design and supervision fees) and 48,479,360 yen for operating expenses (including personnel costs and utility costs).
Regarding this support, Goro Inagaki commented, "I hope that through this support we will be able to provide a place of comfort for those who are going through difficult days. We would like to continue to support the people of Noto Peninsula."
The LOVE POCKET FUND was established in April 2020 by Atarashii Chizu and the Nippon Foundation, and is based on the concept that "being kind to others will make you happy yourself." To date, the fund has been used to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, support refugees in Ukraine, and provide support to areas affected by various disasters.
