It was revealed on July 24th that actors Kaho and Ryoma Takeuchi will be starring in the TBS Tuesday drama "Jaa, Anata ga Tsukutemiteroyo" (Tuesdays at 10pm) in October. The story is a romantic comedy about a girlfriend who loses sight of herself by putting her lover first, and a patriarchal boyfriend who believes that "women should cook!"
The original work is a manga of the same name by Natsuko Taniguchi, which is currently being serialized in the digital comic magazine "Comic Tanto" (Bunkasha), and is a hot topic, having won first place in the "CREA Late Night Manga Awards" and fourth place in the "This Kono Manga ga Sugoi! 2025" women's edition. Ayumi Yamagishi (Kaho), who cooks elaborate meals for her lover and puts her "lover first," and Katsuo Ebiwara (Takeuchi), who has a somewhat rare patriarchal mentality in the Reiwa era, have been dating since their university days, and have gotten used to living together, and things seem to be going well. Eventually, Katsuo makes a perfect proposal to Ayumi, but she unexpectedly replies, "No way." The story is about how, through the opportunity to "cook," they reexamine the things they took for granted and grow...
Ayumi, played by Kaho in her first lead role in a TBS drama, is a character who spares no effort in order to marry a high-spec man and live a stable life, and has bet everything on being popular. After her efforts bear fruit and she begins dating the high-spec Ebihara Katsuo, she devotes herself to cooking his favorite dishes for him. However, after meeting a certain person, she begins to think about what it is she likes and what makes her unique...
This is Takeuchi's first lead role in a TBS drama in about six years since "The Ship of Theseus," and his first lead role in a Tuesday drama. Takeuchi plays Katsuo, who has a lot to say about Ayumi's cooking, but he means no harm and is saying it for her sake. He is a confident man who believes himself to be perfect and makes a perfect proposal to Ayumi, but...
The script was written by Kei Ando, head of the Ampersand Theatre Company, who won the Kishida Kunio Drama Award for "Even if You Don't Walk, You'll Hit a Stick." The play will be directed by Yoshihiro Ito, Ryosuke Fukuda, and Katsuhiro Omoto.
◇ Comment from Kaho
When I received the offer, I was very surprised because I couldn't imagine myself playing Ayumi, as I had originally enjoyed reading the original work as a reader. "Are you sure you want me...?" But still, Kei Ando's script had the power to make me want to jump in at any cost!
At first, I struggled to find common ground with Ayumi and tried various methods to figure out how to play the character, but I felt that the problems Ayumi faces are probably ones that everyone has faced, so I compared them to my own and played the role with a feeling of watching over Ayumi.
I am acting with Takeuchi-kun for the first time, and he is full of vitality! His personality and acting attract people and he has the power to push forward. I am very encouraged to be working with Takeuchi-kun, who has a lot of things that I don't have. Although it is a love story, it is like a buddy relationship, and I hope that it will be a work in which we can both fully utilize the strengths that we have. I would be happy if the viewers would support Ayumi and Katsuo's struggle.
◇Ryoma Takeuchi
I wondered why she called me out, and when I read it, I felt like she was peering into my heart (laughs). I thought I needed to reconsider what I usually say and do. It's a really interesting subject, like "Men, wake up!". The fact that I received an offer from such a wonderful work is like she's telling me to "take a good look at myself" (laughs). It's an interesting story that anyone can relate to, so I'd like to do my best together with Kaho.
I've been watching Kaho-san's work since I was a student, and she's one of the people whose acting I think is wonderful. So I'm really happy to be able to work with her at this time.
This work depicts from various angles the things we tend to overlook but that are overflowing in our daily lives and that we all feel somewhere in our hearts. That's why I look back on my own daily life and look for commonalities with the characters. I hope that this work will make people think, "Oh, this is what I wanted to see!"
I would be delighted if you could support Katsuo as he takes a fresh look at himself and grows bit by bit.

"To what extent can I keep up with the ever-changing times?" These are the words I thought over and over when I read Taniguchi-sensei's original work. This is a comedy drama that will be delivered to you in the form of an adorable story about a man and a woman who have been living in a world just for the two of them, but who open a new door after breaking up and try to change for themselves and for someone else!
Kaho-san, who is returning to a TBS drama for the first time in eight years, and Takeuchi-san, who is taking on a Tuesday drama for the first time. Every time I see the two of them side by side, I feel very honored and happy.
The cast and staff will work together to bring to you a story of growth for each of the two characters, a woman who wants to find her true self and a man who wants his girlfriend back, as well as a work filled with kindness towards each other, so please support us!
◇Original work by Natsuko Taniguchi
I'm really happy that it's being made into a TV drama!! At first glance, this work is a story about Katsuo's reflection and growth that seems "outdated," but at the same time, I think it's also a story that makes us think about "values that change with the times."
While keeping that in mind, I would be really happy if the many staff and cast members could share their opinions, reconstruct the story, and make it into a work that surpasses the original! (I would also like to watch it and think, "I'll surpass it!" and do my best!)
I'm always encouraged by the comments of my readers, and I learn a lot from them. I'm really looking forward to hearing your thoughts on this drama!
