It has been revealed that Bandai Namco Filmworks, which is working on the Hollywood live-action film version of the popular anime series "Gundam" titled "GUNDAM (working title)", signed a joint investment agreement with the American film company LEGENDARY in January. This is the first time that the "Gundam" series will be made into a Hollywood live-action film. It is scheduled to be released in theaters around the world.
The live-action film will be directed and written by Jim Michael and produced by Legendary Pictures.
In preparation for the live-action film, Bandai Namco Filmworks America, LLC will be established in the United States on April 1. The company will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Bandai Namco Holdings USA Inc., the North American regional headquarters of the Bandai Namco Group, and will work under the control of Bandai Namco Filmworks to expand its overseas licensing business and increase the brand value of the "Gundam" series.
