New characters and mobile suits that will appear in "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX -Beginning-," the advance theatrical release of the latest installment in the popular Gundam anime series, "Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX," have been announced (the following contains spoilers).
The familiar "Red Comet" Char Aznable and Sharia Bull from "Mobile Suit Gundam," the first installment of the "Gundam" series that aired from 1979 to 1980, will appear, and it has been revealed that Shin Yuki will play Char and Kawada Shinji will play Sharia Bull.
In the year 0085 of the Universal Century, the red Gundam (gMS-α) suddenly appears in Side 6 and joins the clan battle, as well as the Earth Federation's new MS, the white Gundam (RX-78-02), Char's Zaku (MS-06S), and the Zaku (MS-06).
It has also been revealed that the cast will include Goto Mitsusuke as Char's subordinate Denim, Takeda Taichi as Char's adjutant Dren, Yamashita Seiichiro as Exabe Olive, a lieutenant in the Principality of Zeon army who graduated at the top of his class from the Flanagan School, and Fujita Akane as Komori Harcourt, an elite lieutenant in the Principality of Zeon army who graduated from a military academy.
Information on the characters of Kaneban Co., Ltd., the junk shop that the main character Amate Yuzuriha meets, was also announced. The cast will include Mariya Ise as Anky, the president of Kaneban Co., Ltd., Yasutoshi Tokumoto as Jezzy, a member of the company, Shoya Chiba as Jezzy's Pomeranian, Shoya Chiba as Nabu, Yusuke Nagano as Kane, and Rie Kugimiya as Haro.
A red Gundam Gunpla (plastic model) will be released in May as "HG 1/144 Red Gundam" (Bandai Spirits) from the "HG" series. It was also announced that a red Gundam figure, "METAL ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> Red Gundam" (same publisher), will be released in June, and a white Gundam figure, "METAL ROBOT Spirits <SIDE MS> White Gundam" (same publisher), will be released in September.
Mobile Suit Gundam GQuuuuuuX is also a hot topic as it is the first collaboration between Sunrise, which is responsible for the Gundam series, and Khara, known for the Evangelion series. Kazuya Tsurumaki is the director, Yoji Enokido is the series composer, and Ikuto Yamashita is in charge of mechanical design. The TV anime series was broadcast on Nippon TV, and a pre-broadcast theatrical version, which reconstructed some episodes, began screening on January 17th ahead of the broadcast.
The story is about the protagonist, a high school girl named Amate Yuzuriha (Machu), who lives peacefully in a space colony floating in space, but when she meets a war refugee girl named Nyaan, she becomes involved in an illegal mobile suit dueling competition called Clan Battles.
