UNBOUND:[Character introduction] Ono Karin "Utsusemi" has lived in Yoshiwara since she was a child... Her life changes dramatically after a certain encounter.

The NHK Taiga drama " UNBOUND (Berabou) " (General TV, Sunday 8pm and others), starring actor Ryusei Yokohama , began airing on January 5th. This is the first of the long-running Taiga dramas to depict the mid-Edo period. Here we introduce Utsusemi (Ono Karin), who also appeared in the first episode, "Arigatayama no Kangarasu".

Utsusemi is a prostitute third to Matsunoi and Hananoi. She is a mid-ranking prostitute who has her own room to entertain her customers, and although she does not participate in the "oiran dochu", she is a "zashiki mochi" (house attendant) who is accompanied by a kamuro (courtesan) and a furisode shinzo (new bride in long-sleeved kimono) to take care of her personal needs. However, one encounter leads to a major change in the life of Utsusemi, who has lived as a prostitute in Yoshiwara since she was a child...

" UNBOUND (Berabou)" is the 64th taiga drama, depicting the life of Tsutaya Juzaburo(or "Tsutajyu" for short), who is said to have built the foundations of Japan's media industry and pop culture. The script was written by Yoshiko Morishita, who is known for "Drama 10 'Ooku'" which was broadcast on NHK two years ago and became a big hit.
