Actor Toshiaki Karasawa attended a press conference for the drama "Private Banker" (Thursdays 9pm, extended first episode special), which begins on the same day and in which he plays the lead role, held at TV Asahi headquarters (Minato-ku, Tokyo) on January 9th, along with co-star Honami Suzuki.
Karasawa and Suzuki have worked together on a terrestrial TV drama for the first time in 33 years since the 1992 drama "In the Name of Love" (Fuji TV). Suzuki said with a smile, "It's an honor." When the MC mentioned that "the style of this work is completely different from that of "In the Name of Love," Karasawa said that there is no love element in this work and replied, "I'd like to do a love story (with the two of us) someday (laughs)!". Suzuki burst out laughing and replied, "I'd really appreciate it, producer. I'll be waiting. (In this day and age) senior love is important too!"
Suzuki, who was also filmed hanging from a single rope from the 23rd floor, about 100 meters above sea level, said, "It's not CG!", and Karasawa explained the harshness of the scene, saying, "I used to do action scenes, and usually I feel safe if I'm pulled up by two points, but it's scary with just one." He also said that he was actually hung from the roof in the test before the actual shoot, and Suzuki revealed, "I was hung from the roof until the sun went down (laughs)."
The drama is an original story that focuses on "private bankers," "money professionals" who advise the wealthy on how to manage and build their assets. This is a thrilling money suspense drama in which Koichi Anno (Karasawa), a highly skilled private banker with overwhelming financial knowledge and a wide network of contacts, brilliantly resolves various financial problems. Suzuki plays Kumiko Iida, the president of a dumpling shop whose attitude towards money changes after meeting Anno.
Also attending the press conference were Uesugi Shuhei, Anna Tsuchiya, Megumi, Yasui Junpei, Yoshida Uronta, Natsuki Mari, and Hashizume Isao.
