A giveaway project for icons of the "completely new anime" of Rumiko Takahashi 's smash hit manga "Ranma 1/2" has begun. 100 different icons will be distributed for free on the anime's official website. They will be distributed to commemorate "Nibunichi Day" on January 2nd (1/2). The anime's official Twitter account is also running a campaign to give away posters, assorted goods, and more.
"Ranma 1/2" was broadcast as a TV anime from 1989 to 1992, and this is the first time it has been adapted into a TV anime in about 32 years. The new anime is also attracting attention because the voice actors Kappei Yamaguchi , who plays Ranma Saotome , Hayashibara Megumi Hayashibara , who plays Ranma, and Noriko Hidaka, who plays Akane Tendo, are reprising their roles. The first season will air from October to December 2024, and it has also been announced that a second season will be produced.
The series was serialized in the manga magazine Weekly Shonen Maison Ikkoku (Shogakukan) from 1987 to 1996 by Takahashi, who is also known for Akane Tendo such as Urusei Yatsura and Maison Ikkoku. It depicts the hectic daily life of high school martial artist Ranma Saotome , who turns into a woman when splashed with water, and his fiancee Tendo Akane. While training in the indiscriminate fighting style with his father Genma, Ranma develops a unique constitution in China, where he trains in Jusenkyo, where he turns into a woman when splashed with water, and reverts to a man when splashed with hot water. When Ranma returns to Japan, he and his son end up staying with Genma's best friend Soun Tendo, and by chance he becomes engaged to Soun's daughter Akane.
