Actors Seishirō Kato and Mana Ashida appeared at the "Cells at Work! Cell Gathering Premiere" event for the film "Cells at Work!" (directed by Hideki Takeuchi, to be released on December 13th) held in Tokyo on December 4th. Ashida plays the role of high school girl Niko Urushizaki, while Kato plays Arata Takeda, Niko's admired senior. Looking back on the filming of the scene where the two visit an aquarium, Kato said, "It was dopamine-filled and fun!"
Ashida said, "When we went to our seats for the scene where we went to the aquarium with Seishiro-kun, the extras around us were really wet, and I thought something was wrong. When we sat down together, the killer whale splashed so much water on us that we could see the waves. We both had a really high dopamine rush, and I remember it was so much fun." Kato also recalled, "It was amazing. They splashed water on us. We were more soaked than we thought, so much so that our clothes were wrung out."
Sato Takeru, who plays the white blood cell (neutrophil), also appeared at the event. In response to Ashida and Kato's comments, Sato said, "It seems like it's better to get wet on a date. That's just my research. It's not like the suspension bridge effect of sharing the same thing. 'Cells at Work' also has water effects in 4DX, so if you come to see the movie on a date, I recommend it because you can both get wet."
The film is a live-action adaptation of Akane Shimizu's popular manga (Kodansha), which has sold over 10 million copies in total. Starring Nagano and Sato, it depicts the daily activities of personified cells set inside the human body. Nagano plays a red blood cell that struggles to deliver oxygen to each organ in the body, while Sato plays a white blood cell that eliminates foreign substances such as bacteria and viruses that enter the body.
