It has been announced that the theatrical version of the popular anime series "Lupin III: The Castle of Cagliostro" (directed by Hayao Miyazaki, 1979) will be shown again from November 29th to commemorate the 45th anniversary of its release. The IMAX version will also be shown as a special screening from the same day. This is the first time that the IMAX version of the film will be screened in about 45 years since its release.
Two types of poster visuals have also been released: the IMAX version and the regular version. The regular version poster uses the visual from when it was released in 1979, while the IMAX version poster uses an illustration specially drawn for 2021.
A new illustration drawn to commemorate the 45th anniversary by director Daisuke Sakamoto, who worked on the anime "LUPIN ZERO" depicting Lupin III's childhood, was also released. Two types of visuals were drawn: one showing Lupin III in action, and one rewriting a famous scene between Lupin III and Clarice. 45th anniversary commemorative products using the same visuals will be sold at the theater.
"The Castle of Cagliostro" is set in the small European country of Cagliostro, where Lupin and his friends go crazy in search of a mysterious counterfeit bill and a hidden treasure hidden in the castle. There are many memorable scenes, such as the romance between Lupin III and the beautiful girl Clarice, a fast-paced car chase, and Inspector Zenigata's famous lines.
