On October 11th, NHK announced that Ariyoshi Hiroiki, Hashimoto Kanna, Ito Sairi, and announcer Suzuki Naoko will be the hosts of the 75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, to be held on New Year's Eve at NHK Hall (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo). This will be Ariyoshi's second consecutive year as host, Hashimoto's third consecutive year, and Ito's first time as Kouhaku host. It will also be the first time that the stars of the first and second semesters of an NHK morning drama will co-host the show.
It was also announced that the theme of the show will be "Songs for You." The show aims to present the best songs to "you," regardless of major or minor, country, gender, or era.
Regarding the reason for the selection of hosts, Yajima Ryo, head of the 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen's executive headquarters, commented, "We want to deliver a great Kouhaku Uta Gassen on New Year's Eve, with 2025 just around the corner, the 100th anniversary of the broadcast. We have decided to ask these wonderful people to be this year's hosts, as they are fitting for the end of the year. This will be the first time in Kouhaku history that the protagonists of the first and second halves of a morning drama will all be hosting. Please enjoy the 75th Kouhaku Uta Gassen, the best entertainment that will lead to a bright and hopeful future."
The 75th NHK Kouhaku Uta Gassen will be broadcast from 7:20 pm to 11:45 pm on December 31st (with some news interruptions).
