The cast for the Japanese version of the popular Gundam anime series Mobile Suit Gundam: Requiem of Revenge has been announced, with Nanako Mori playing the main character Ilia Solari. The official trailer for the Japanese version has also been released on YouTube.
Mori commented, "I'm very happy and honored to be playing Ilia Solari in the Japanese version, and at the same time, I feel like it's fate, or some kind of connection, to be involved with Gundam in this way. The story is set on the European front during the One Year War. Information about the mobile suits has already been released, but the battle scenes are so cool they'll take your breath away. Please look forward to it. I'd also be very happy if you could pay attention to the conflicts of Solari, the character I play, the Red Wolf squad she leads, and the human drama of each and every character that appears."
The cast also included Shoya Ishige as Niland LeShawn, Shunichi Maki as Reed Gelfi (Chavs), Ryunosuke Watanuki as Cale Zavaleta, Ryojo Hara as Ander Heaton, Takeo Otsuka as Oni Kasuga, Maki Kawase as Hayley Arhun, and Hiroshi Naka as Alfie Zydos (Gearhead).
An advance screening of episodes 1 to 3 with a talk event will be held in Tokyo on October 12th. Mori, director Erasmus Brosdau, animation producer and sound director Hiroaki Yura, and producer Kenichi Yatomi will be in attendance.
The story begins 11 months after the outbreak of the One Year War, when one of the bases under Zeon occupation in Eastern Europe is seized by the Earth Federation Forces, and a mixed battalion including Illya Solari and the Red Wolf Corps, who have just descended from space, set out to recapture it. It will be produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks and SAFEHOUSE. It will be available worldwide exclusively on Netflix on October 17th.
