A photo of Kamio Yu in costume as Taira no Tamekata in the NHK Taiga drama "To You, the Shining One" (General TV, Sundays at 8pm and others), starring Yoshitaka Yuriko, has been released.
Taira no Tamekata is a warrior who is friends with Fujiwara no Takaie, and accompanies Takaie when he travels to Dazaifu, where he achieves military success during the Toi invasion. Sojumaru, an original character for the drama played by Ito Kentaro, is devoting himself to training in martial arts under Tamekata.
When the announcement of his appearance was made, Kamio said, "Taira Tamekata was a military commander who lived in the Heian period, an era when the world was changing from the aristocracy to the samurai. He appears as one of the symbols of the changing times. The spirit of bushido was probably not yet well established at this time, but as a samurai, it must have been the greatest happiness to serve a person who was filled with loyalty, faith and devotion, and who was genuinely attracted to and infatuated with Fujiwara Takaie's personality, and who he truly respected. I would like to fully express the loyalty and martial arts that are unique to Tamekata in the play."
Photos of Minami Sara, who plays Fujiwara Kenko, Kataoka Sennosuke, who plays Prince Atsuyasu, and Ito, who plays Sojumaru, in costume were also released.
"Hikaru Kimi e" is the 63rd taiga drama. Set in the aristocratic society of the mid-Heian period, the main character is Murasaki Shikibu (Mahiro), who later wrote "The Tale of Genji," said to be the world's oldest novel written by a woman. The script was written by Oishi Shizuka, who will be writing a taiga drama for the second time since "Koumyo ga Tsuji" in 2006, and depicts the glittering world of Heian aristocrats and the life of a woman who lived, wrote and loved with all her heart.
