"Omusubi" is the NHK morning drama series starring Kanna Hashimoto, which will begin airing on September 30th in the second half of 2024. The heroine, born in 1989, is a powerful "Heisei youth graffiti" who always values her individuality with a "gal spirit" in her heart. There are 11 days left until the broadcast begins. Here, we introduce Yoneda Aiko, played by Kumiko Aso.

◇She sees into her daughters' hearts and watches over them with kindness

Yoneda Aiko is the mother of the main character, Yui (Hashimoto). Although she is a former delinquent, she sees into her daughters' hearts that her husband, Masato (Kitamura Yukiya), does not notice, and watches over them with kindness. While doing housework with Yui's grandmother, Kayo (Miyazaki Yoshiko), she supports Masato's farming business.

This will be Aso's first appearance in the morning drama as Aiko.

◇The first morning drama in four Heisei eras - what will be the theme song and narration?

The drama is an original work by screenwriter Nemoto Nonji, known for NHK's "Honest Real Estate." The theme song is "Illumination" by B'z, a song that is said to powerfully liven up the world of the story, in which the protagonist encounters gal culture.

The main story will be narrated by illustrator and actor Lily Franky, and the Saturday edition will be narrated by the station's announcer Takase Kozo. This will be the first morning drama to be set mainly in the Heisei era, since "Maiagare!" in the second half of 2022.

The series will air on NHK General TV from September 30th, Monday to Saturday at 8am and other times.
