Singer Mizumori Kaori, who is celebrating her 30th anniversary since her debut this year, will appear on Kuroyanagi Tetsuko's long-running talk show "Tetsuko's Room" (TV Asahi), which will be broadcast at 1:00 p.m. on August 26th.
Although she is known as the "Queen of Local Songs" and is now a regular on the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen, she had no hits for about seven years after her debut, and was on the brink of quitting singing if her next song didn't sell. Perhaps knowing her feelings, she was given the song "Tojinbo," which is based on a famous cliff. Composer Tetsuya Gen advised her to "sing it with all your might," and when she sang it, it was well-received, and her next song, "Tottori Sand Dunes," became a hit, she recalls.
Her older sister, who is seven years older than her, also loves singing, and under her influence, she started singing as well. She has been working as a singer for about 10 years, despite suffering from a sore throat. She says there are times when she is unable to sing as well as she would like, and she is moved to tears by the kindness of her fans who watch over her warmly.
