TV Asahi will broadcast a three-hour special program titled "Showa Masterpieces! Top 30 Love Songs of Love and Tears that Will Make You Sad" from 7pm on September 18th. This latest installment of the "Showa Masterpieces" series will feature a nationwide survey asking, "What is your favorite Showa love song?" The results will be divided into three genres: "Passionate Love Songs," "Songs of Heartbreak and Separation," and "Songs of Forbidden Love," and will be presented in the form of a ranking along with rare footage from the time.

The show will be hosted by actor Takahashi Hideki and TV announcer Oshita Yoko. Guests who are huge fans of Showa pop music, including Takada Junji, Anmika, Ikko, Matsumoto Akiko, and Asagaya Sisters, will gather in the studio.

The ranking includes love songs by Matsuda Seiko, Nakamori Akina, Teresa Teng, Ozaki Yutaka, Takahashi Mariko, and The Checkers.

Rare footage of Nakamori's recording session just before her debut, when many of her hit songs were ranked, will also be shown. Matsumoto, who has performed with Nakamori, reveals the true face of the "diva," saying, "It's really amazing that she can sing with such a worldview at such a young age! But Akina is usually so lively and cute. She laughs a lot and is a very innocent person!"

In between the announcements of the rankings, the guests in the studio will share stories related to love songs. Oshita, who was in an all-girls band in her youth, will be entranced when Ozaki's songs are ranked, and will confess, "Even though we were in an all-girls band, we would even copy Ozaki's songs."

Rare footage of big stars such as Misora Hibari and Kitajima Saburo singing famous love songs will also be shown. Everyone in the studio is deeply moved, saying, "This is amazing! It's a worldview that's almost like the original!" and "I wish we could have heard it live!"

There will also be a "Duet History" corner looking back at the history of duet songs from the Showa era. Special guest Sachiko Kobayashi, who is celebrating her 60th year in show business this year, will appear in the studio. She will reveal the story behind the creation of the duet number "Moshikashite PART II," which was a huge hit in the 80s. The mystery of why it's called "Part II" will be revealed. Together with Katsuhiko Miki, she will passionately sing "Moshikashite PART II" for the first time in 40 years on TV Asahi.
