Actor Kumiko Aso attended the first week completion press conference of the morning drama "Omusubi" held at the NHK Broadcasting Center (Shibuya Ward, Tokyo) on September 9th. Aso, who is appearing in an morning drama for the first time, said, "I've always wanted to appear in an morning drama, so I'm really happy and honored that my wish has come true," and revealed, "When I was in high school, gal girls were popular, so when I heard about this role, I felt very nostalgic and was looking forward to it."

Looking back on her high school days, Aso said, "I wasn't a gal at all, but there were a lot of gal girls around me, so I was a little jealous, but I didn't want to become a gal, and I was stubborn and didn't do it, and I grew up, but through this work, I realized that gals are cool, and I regretted it a little, thinking, 'Why didn't I do it? I wanted to do it.'"

Also attending the press conference were Hashimoto Kanna, who plays the main character Yui, Naka Riisa, who plays Yui's older sister Ayumu, and Kitamura Yukiya, who plays her father Masato.

"Omusubi" is a "Heisei youth graffiti" in which the heroine Yoneda Yui, born in 1989, connects people's hearts and futures as a nutritionist, with the "gal spirit" of valuing one's individuality at all times. The series is an original work by Nemoto Nonji, a screenwriter known for NHK's drama "Shojiki Real Estate." It will air on NHK General TV from September 30th, Monday to Saturday from 8am and other channels.
