The 38th Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF), one of the largest film festivals in Asia, opened on October 27th in Hibiya, Tokyo and other locations. Actors Sayuri Yoshinaga, Non, and director Junji Sakamoto appeared on stage to greet the audience at the opening of TIFF, "You are there, beyond the top" (directed by Junji Sakamoto).
TIFF's mission is to "disseminate the potential of film from Tokyo and contribute to exchange with a diverse world." This year's festival will feature actress Kumi Takiuchi as festival navigator, journalist, author, and programmer Carlo Chatrian as jury chair, and actor Takumi Saito as jury member. The festival will screen 184 films and will run until November 5th in the Hibiya, Yurakucho, Marunouchi, and Ginza districts.
