Special behind-the-scenes footage of the film "Inland Empire 4K": Filming, direction, and makeup... Director David Lynch's behind-the-scenes footage revealed

A special behind-the-scenes video for "Inland Empire 4K" (released January Getsuku, 2026), a 4K remaster of "Inland Empire" (2006), the final feature film by director David Lynch, who passed away in January this year, was released on December 17th.

Director Lynch passed away on January 15th at the age of 78. Since his debut film, Eraserhead, in 1976, the master director had captivated the world as a "cult king." His final feature film, Inland Empire, is being remastered in 4K and overseen by Lynch himself.

Hollywood actress Nikki Grace (Laura Dern) stars in "The Night Before Tomorrow," a remake of the unfinished Polish film "47." She soon finds herself embroiled in an affair with her co-star Devon Burke (Justin Theroux), just like in the film, and the story of the film and her own life begin to intertwine. The line between reality and fiction gradually blurs, driving Nikki's mind to the brink of collapse.

The newly released footage alternates between behind-the-scenes footage and corresponding scenes from the film. It includes scenes of Lynch giving acting instructions to Harry Dean Stanton, who has appeared in many of Lynch's films over the years, as well as directing the cameraman on the angle of the shot and giving specific instructions to Dern herself regarding the intense scene in which Dern's character, Nicky, vomits blood.
