Actor Ami Touma appeared on stage to greet the audience at the preview screening of her starring film "Strawberry Moon: A Love with Half a Year Left to Live" (directed by Sakai Mai, scheduled for release on October 17th) held in Tokyo on September 22nd. Touma, who is starring in her first feature film, commented, "First of all, I felt a sense of joy, like 'I did it!' I was so happy to be able to take part in such a wonderful production as the lead. I felt pressure, knowing that my behavior on set and each of my acting changes the atmosphere, but I hoped I could enjoy acting."
The film is based on the novel of the same name by Nao Akutagawa (Subarusha), which became a hot topic on TikTok as "the most tear-jerking film of the Reiwa era." It tells the story of Sakurai Moe (Touma), who is told she has only six months to live, who falls in love with Hinata (Jun Saito) in the spring of her first year of high school. Touma and Saito also co-starred in the TV drama "Chihayafuru: Meguri" (Nippon TV). Touma said of Saito, "During filming for the movie, he was quiet and gentle, and exuded kindness. I felt that he was filming without taking on the role. The drama was very lively, and there were actors who were closer to his generation than in the movie, so I could see that he also has a very boyish side to him."
Saito said of Touma, "He was very kind." He added, "In the drama, it was fun to hear the cheers of fellow teammates and feel it with my whole body as we did the same takes. I felt that he must be under immense pressure as the lead in both works, but he didn't let that show to those around him and led the way. He was very reliable."
Also appearing at the event were Anji Ikebata, Yosuke Sugino, Ayami Nakajo, Rena Tanaka, Yusuke Santamaria, and director Sakai.
