It has been announced that a sticker called "Tengu Shin-chan Squishy Butt Ball Sticker" will be distributed as a gift to moviegoers of the latest film in the popular anime "Crayon Shin-chan Crayon Shin-chan -chan" series, the 33rd installment, "Crayon Crayon Shin-chan chan the Movie: Strange and Mysterious! My Yokai Vacation," starting from the release date of July 31st. This is the first time in approximately 19 years that a moviegoer gift has been distributed for the "Crayon Shin-chan" series, since "The Storm-Calling Singing Butt Bomb!" released in 2007. The design features Shin-chan dressed as a tengu with a squishy "butt ball" attached, which appears as an important item in the latest film. Limited to 500,000 pieces.
Additional cast members have been announced, including Retort, a creator who has gained popularity with his game commentary videos on YouTube. He will play the yokai dashi-maki umpire, a yokai who loves baseball. Retort, a fan of "Crayon Shin-chan," has collaborated with the series in the past, and he expressed his delight at being cast in this project, saying, "Crayon Shin-chan is a very special work to me. Manga, anime, movies, games, merchandise. I've been involved with Shin-chan in every way since I was little, and I still can't believe that I'm able to be involved in this way!"
The latest film, "Kikikaikai! Ora no Yokai Vacation," follows the Nohara family as they stumble into the land of yokai (Japanese spirits/monsters) on their way to Hiroshi's hometown of Akita to see the Omagari Fireworks Festival, a summer tradition in Akita Prefecture. They find themselves on an unpredictable adventure. Directed by Masaki Watanabe and written by Yoshiko Nakamura, the film stars actress Sairi Ito as Yako, a nine-tailed fox yokai; Sakamoto from the comedy duo "Mayurika" as the squid yokai from Edomae Sushi; and Nakatani as the flounder yokai. The film will be released on July 31st.
The "Crayon Shin-chan" film series began in 1993 with the release of its first film, "Crayon Shin-chan -chan: Action Mask vs. High-Grade Demon King." The 2023 release of "Crayon Shin-chan Shin-chan: The Movie - Superpower Great Battle - Fly, Fly, Hand-Rolled Sushi," the first fully 3DCG animated film in the series, also generated considerable buzz. The 2024 film "Crayon Shin-chan -chan: Our Dinosaur Diary" grossed over 2.5 billion yen, setting a new record for the highest-grossing film in the series' history.
