An event celebrating the release of "Chloe Emma," an original drama series on Amazon's video streaming service "Prime Video," was held on Getsuku at the former Hosokawa Duke's Residence (Bunkyo Ward, Tokyo), with co-stars Hana Sugisaki and Mikako Tabe in attendance. This was the first time Sugisaki and Tabe had worked together, and Sugisaki expressed her delight at the collaboration, saying, "I've watched so many of her works since I was very young, so I'm incredibly happy to be able to work with her in this way."
The drama is based on the manga of the same name by Tsunami Umino, the cartoonist known for "The Full-Time Wife Escapist." Emma (Sugisaki), a 30-year-old woman who has lost love, her job, and her home all at once, ends up at the mansion of the mysterious wealthy Chloe (Tabe). The two women begin living together by chance and end up opening a fortune-telling shop. Using fortune-telling as a clue, they get closer to unraveling the unsolved mysteries hidden behind the words of their clients.
Sugisaki, who co-starred with Tabe, reflected on the filming, saying, "When there were surreal elements in a scene, Tabe's performance instantly made it more convincing. She has that kind of power, and I felt like she was leading the way with her very steady presence."
Tabe also praised Sugisaki, saying, "Even looking at her previous works, she has such a presence. Just her presence alone makes a big impression on me. When I actually met her, I thought she was just as wonderful. I thought it would be an exciting set every day, but I was able to spend every day in a way that was even more exciting than I imagined."
Co-star Yoji Iwase and director Rikiya Imaizumi also appeared at the event. The drama will be exclusively streamed worldwide starting June 12th. It will consist of 5 episodes, with new episodes released every Friday.
