Actress Keiko Kitagawa will appear in the July issue of the craft magazine "COTTON TIME" (published by Shufu to Seikatsu Sha), which goes on sale June 5th. The magazine features a series called "Keiko Kitagawa's Blissful Handmade Crafts," and a photo of a nylon rain poncho she made for her daughter has been published.
This time, the instructor was Baby & Kids Handmade, a popular artist whom Kitagawa admires. The material was slippery nylon fabric, and Kitagawa had always felt intimidated by the "bias finishing" technique, which involves wrapping the entire edge with tape. However, with some tips, she carefully sewed and completed the project in three hours.
Ms. Kitagawa looked at her creation with deep emotion, saying, "I never thought I'd be able to make a rain poncho myself!" She also mentioned that her daughter chose the navy and off-white color combination.
