It has been revealed that the manga magazine "Young Magazine" (Kodansha) will be launching the "Young Magazine Painter Award," a manga award targeting illustrators, animators, art students, designers, and others.
Young Magazine has previously offered two newcomer awards: the monthly "Monthly Award" and the semi-annual "Chiba Tetsuya Award." To discover even more talent, they have created a new manga award that accepts submissions of as little as four pages from "art professionals" who have been active in fields other than manga. To support aspiring manga artists, they have also released a video summarizing how to draw manga.
Manga artist Ito Ogure, known for works such as "Air Gear," "Bakemonogatari," and " Kaijin Fugeki, " will serve as a judge, and the grand prize is 1 million yen. The deadline is August 17th.
