NHK's Asadora drama series "Kaze,Kaoru " (NHK General, Monday-Saturday 8:00 AM, etc.), starring Ai Mikami and Juri Kosaka , will be looking back at its fifth week, "Tsudoishi Monotachi" (April 27th - May 1st, Sunday), on May 2nd.
" Kaze,Kaoru" is the 114th morning Asadora. Based on the story of two trained nurses, Chika Ozeki and Masa Suzuki, who graduated from the same nursing school, the drama depicts how the two grow through their struggles and clashes with each other in how to interact with patients and doctors, and eventually become the "ultimate buddy" team. Mikami plays the main character, Rin Ichinose, and Uesaka plays the other main character, Naomi Oya.
The script is written by Tomoko Yoshizawa, who has worked on a wide range of genres, from comedies and family dramas to medical dramas and period dramas. The theme song is "Kaze to Machi" by the three-member band "Mrs. Green Apple".
In the fifth week, the first class of nursing students, all aiming to become trained nurses, have gathered: Rin (Mikami), Naomi (Uesaka), Tae (Ikuta Erika), Kiyo (Kikuchi Akiko), Yuki (Nakai Tomomi), Shinobu (Kigoshi Akira), and Tome (Harashima Rin), a diverse group of individuals with different ages and backgrounds. Dormitory life begins under the guidance of Principal Kajiwara (Ise Shima) and dormitory supervisor Matsui (Hyunri), but nursing classes have not yet begun because Ms. Burns (Emma Howard) is late in arriving in Japan.
Instead, they first receive a letter from their teacher and a book in English, with the instruction to "read Nightingale's works until you understand them." Naomi and Tae, who are good at English, take the lead in dividing into two groups to work on the translation, but both Naomi and Tae struggle with how to translate words that appear repeatedly in the book.
The students spend their Sundays in their own ways. Naomi visits the Oyama family to consult with Sutematsu (Mikako Tabe) about her translation. Meanwhile, Rin also coincidentally meets Shimaken (Masaya Sano) at Mizuho-ya, which she visits with Tamaki (Ema), and consults with him about her translation as well.
Rin and Naomi, who were late for curfew, are ordered to clean the dormitory as punishment. Naomi stops cleaning halfway through, and seeing this, Rin tries to get her to open up about what's on her mind. Then, the day of the translation presentation finally arrives... and the story unfolds from there.
