"Detective! Night Scoop" (ABC TV, Fridays at 11:17 PM) is a popular variety show where "detectives" tackle outlandish requests and worries submitted by viewers. On May 1st, the show's ace detective investigated the question, "You can't graduate unless you can do a backflip!" Special Director Jun Kaname, a native of Kagawa Prefecture and the "Vice Governor of Udon Prefecture" for a local PR project, made his first appearance on the show, joined by Assistant Director Takanori Takeyama and Secretary Saori Masuda.
The request came from a 21-year-old female university student in Osaka Prefecture. The requester is unable to do a backflip. In her third year, she failed a gymnastics class because she couldn't do a backflip. She is retaking the course this year as a fourth-year student, but if she fails this time, she won't be able to graduate. The requester's dream is to become a physical education teacher, so she needs the credits for this class.
The person has practiced with the help of family and friends, but still can't do it, and no one understands how they feel. At this rate, they'll fail the course again. So, they really need help to learn to do a backflip and have fun doing it. Classes start in April, so it's urgent.
When they immediately asked the client to do a back flip, his legs went up, but his elbows were extended, preventing him from completing the rotation. So, they called in two other men, a 50-year-old and a 27-year-old, who had also requested help with back flips.
The three "kindred spirits" all agreed that they "didn't understand the advice." From there, they put their strategies into action, such as "wrapping a towel around the horizontal bar" and "placing a mat in front and kicking it." Furthermore, the ace detective's advice to "kick with one leg" proved successful, and the client managed to do a backflip.
However, the two men get stuck in a "pull-up swamp" and can't get out.
