It has been revealed that the second chapter of the theatrical anime film "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash" (directed by Shuko Murase), part of the popular anime "Gundam" series, "Mobile Suit Gundam: Hathaway's Flash: The Witch of Circe," has surpassed 2.7 billion yen in box office revenue and 1.59 million viewers. The second chapter, which premiered on January 30th, is now reaching its "first run" finale.
As a final gift for moviegoers during the "first run," an illustration card designed by director Shuko Murase will be distributed starting May 1st, the 14th week of the film's release. The illustration card will feature a portion of Director Murase's storyboards.
"Hathaway's Flash" is based on a novel published between 1989 and 1990 by director Yoshiyuki Tomino, known as the "creator" of the "Gundam" series. Set in Universal Century 0105, the story follows Hathaway, the son of Bright Noa, who experienced a bitter separation during the Second Neo Zeon War, as he pilots the new mobile suit XI Gundam and rebels against the Earth Federation government.
The anime was announced to consist of three parts, with the first part released in June 2021. The second part was a hit, surpassing the box office revenue of the first part, which was approximately 2.23 billion yen.
