Ren Meguro of the popular group Snow Man, who stars in the live-action film "SAKAMOTO DAYS" (directed by Yuichi Fukuda, released on April 29), based on the manga by Yuto Suzuki serialized in "Weekly Shonen Jump," appeared on the cover of the combined 22/23 issue of the magazine, released on April 27. This is Meguro's first appearance on the cover of the magazine. The cover features a collaboration between Sakamoto, the protagonist played by Meguro, and Sakamoto as drawn by the original author, Suzuki. This is the first time in approximately eight years that the magazine has collaborated on a cover featuring a live-action Japanese film and its original work, the last being Fukuda's "Gintama 2: Rules Are Made to Be Broken" in 2018.
The issue included interviews with Meguro, Fumiya Takahashi, and Yokota Mayu, who appear in the film, as well as director Fukuda. It also came with a fold-out pin-up featuring Meguro and Takahashi as Sakamoto and Shin, along with the main visual, and a report from the premiere screening by Miyazaki Shuhei, the author of "Me & Roboco." The results of the best fight vote for the original "SAKAMOTO DAYS" were also announced. The bonus item was a large action panel sticker using illustrations from the original manga.
"SAKAMOTO DAYS" tells the story of Taro Sakamoto, a former legendary hitman who runs a shop after retirement, and fights against assassins alongside his companions to protect the peaceful everyday life he shares with his beloved family. The series has gained popularity for its spectacular battle scenes featuring unique characters.
It has also been adapted into a TV anime series, with the first season's first cour airing from January to March 2025, and the second cour from July to September of the same year. Production of a second season has been confirmed.
