A special trailer for "The Mandalorian and Glogo" (directed by Jon Favreau, released simultaneously in Japan and the US on May 22), the first theatrical release in the "Star Wars" series in seven years, was unveiled on April 27. The trailer features appearances by legendary characters such as Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker, and gives viewers a sense of the enduring legacy of "Star Wars" (hereinafter SW).
The newly released footage opens with a series of iconic scenes from the series, set to the familiar "Star Wars Theme." Legendary moments essential to any discussion of Star Wars are shown one after another, including the appearance of "Sith Lord" Darth Vader with his deep breathing, "Galactic Rogue" Han Solo's beloved Millennium Falcon speeding through space, and "Legendary Jedi" Luke Skywalker activating his green lightsaber.
The latest installment, "Star Wars: The Mandalorian and Glogo," inherits the legacy of Star Wars, which has continuously rewritten film history with its epic battles across the galaxy and depictions of parent-child love, marking the beginning of a new legend.
Set after the death of Darth Vader and the collapse of the Empire, the story follows a lawless galaxy where the Mandalorian, a solitary bounty hunter who adheres to strict rules and completes every job perfectly, is hired by Colonel Ward of the New Republic to prevent a new war aimed at restoring the Empire. Together with Glogoo, a mischievous and gluttonous creature with immense Force powers, the Mandalorian faces a shocking destiny...
Regarding this film, which features thrilling scenes of the Imperial Army's massive AT-AT weapon being blown up, as well as the unique creatures and droids that are characteristic of "Star Wars," director Favreau said, "We are trying to faithfully preserve the essence of 'Star Wars' that George Lucas created. We are striving to respect what he has built," indicating that they are carrying on the "soul" and "history" of Star Wars that have graced the series for so many years.
Next year marks the 50th anniversary of the US theatrical release of the first film in the series, "Star Wars: A New Hope (Episode IV)." It has also been announced that "Star Wars: Starfighter," starring Ryan Gosling, will be released in the US in May 2027.
