The first episode of the drama series "Borderless ~Wide Area Mobile Investigation Team~" (TV Asahi, Wednesdays at 9pm), starring actress Tao Tsuchiya and Shori Sato of the popular group "timelesz," aired on April 8th and has been revealed to have achieved an average viewership rating (according to Video Research, Kanto region) of 8.7% for households and 4.9% for individuals.
This new police drama will begin airing in TV Asahi's traditional "Wednesday 9pm" time slot, which has produced shows like "Aibou," "Tokuso9," and "Keiji 7-nin." It is a completely original work with a script by Ryoichi Kimizuka, who also wrote the "Odoru Daisousasen" and "Kyojo" series (both on Fuji TV). The story follows the exploits of seven detectives with troubled pasts in a mobile investigation unit, a "speeding investigation headquarters in a truck" that the National Police Agency has decided to operate on a trial basis.
Tsuchiya plays Momoko Nakazawa, a female detective who usually appears unmotivated at work but is actually passionate, while Sato plays Tsubomi Kizawa, a bright and positive young detective. The cast also includes Eiji Yokota, Kotaro Tanaka, Yuuka, Yoshihiko Inohara, and Kinya Kitaoji.
In the first episode, two consecutive robbery and assault cases occur in Tokyo. At that moment, a large truck departs from the Metropolitan Police Department. It is a "mobile investigation headquarters vehicle" operated by the Mobile Investigation Unit, which was established to break down turf wars between police departments. Carrying members Momoko Nakazawa (Tsuchiya), Tsubomi Kizawa (Sato), and the team leader Norifumi Akase (Inohara), it speeds towards the police station where the incidents occurred. Meanwhile, a third robbery occurs. The investigation headquarters moves to pursue the culprit...and the story unfolds from there.
