To commemorate the start of the live-action drama series "Aku no Hana" (TV Tokyo, Thursdays at midnight), based on Shuzo Oshimi's popular manga, on Getsuku, a special one-shot manga drawn by Oshimi himself was published in the May issue of "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" (Kodansha), released on the same day, and also on the company's official manga app, "Magapoke."
The book recounts Oshimi's memories of the time when "The Flowers of Evil" was being serialized, and reveals the story behind the creation of the line "You damn bug" spoken by Nakamura Sawa, played by Ano in the drama, which Oshimi was actually inspired to say by his wife.
"The Flowers of Evil" is a manga by Oshimi that was serialized in "Bessatsu Shonen Magazine" from 2009 to 2014 and was nominated for the "Manga Taisho Award 2012". The impactful cover of the first volume of the manga, which features the line "You damn bug" written on it, and the vivid depiction of the inner conflicts and reckless behavior unique to adolescence have attracted attention, and it was adapted into a TV anime in 2013, a stage play in 2016, and a live-action film in 2019. In the TV drama series, Fuku Suzuki Fuku plays Kasuga Takao and Ano plays Nakamura Sawa.
