Actress Tao Tsuchiya and Shori Sato of the popular group "timelesz" recently appeared at a press conference at TV Asahi's headquarters (Minato-ku, Tokyo) for the network's drama "Borderless ~Wide Area Mobile Investigation Team~" (Wednesdays at 9 PM), which starts on April 8th. Their co-stars praised their thoughtfulness.
This new series is a police drama that will start in TV Asahi's traditional "Wednesday 9pm" time slot, which has produced shows like "Aibou," "Tokuso9," and "Keiji 7-nin." Written by Ryoichi Kimizuka, who also wrote the "Odoru Daisousasen" and "Kyojo" series (both on Fuji TV), it is a completely original work depicting the exploits of seven detectives with troubled pasts in a mobile investigation unit, a "speeding investigation headquarters in a truck" that the National Police Agency has decided to operate on a trial basis. The press conference was attended by the two lead actors, Tsuchiya and Sato, as well as Eiji Yokota, Kotaro Tanaka, Yuuka, Kinya Kitaoji, and Yoshihiko Inohara.
During the press conference, the topic of the two lead actors' "incredible thoughtfulness" came up. Inohara testified, "They would ask the guests, 'Would you like a hand warmer?'" He added, "When I stumbled over my lines, Tao-chan said, 'Inocchi, thank you for saying so many difficult lines for us,' and it almost brought me to tears," he said, visibly moved.
Kitaoji also said, "I was quite nervous on the first day, but the two of them (Tsuchiya and Sato) helped me relax. I was able to sense from them that this is how I should approach playing 'Mecha-jii' (the character I'm portraying). This encounter has been very refreshing for me."
Sato, looking humbled, expressed her gratitude, saying, "My seniors have been saying so many difficult lines for me..." Tsuchiya said that the atmosphere on set is so friendly that everyone calls each other by nicknames, and she smiled as she said, "It's rare to find a set where everyone is so open and doesn't put up any barriers. I feel truly fortunate every day."
