An all-night binge-watching special event was held in Tokyo on April 3rd to commemorate the Blu-ray and DVD release of "The Royal Family," a TBS Sunday drama series starring actor Satoshi Tsumabuki that aired in October 2025. Producer Shoichi Kato, director Reito Matsuda, and Hitomi Kuroki appeared on stage.
The drama tells the story of Eiji Kurisu (Tsumabuki), a tax accountant who, after a certain incident, experiences a setback in his career and loses hope. However, an encounter with Kozo Sanno (Koichi Sato), a horse owner, sets his life, which had suddenly come to a standstill, in motion again...
During the "frank talk" segment of the event, producer Kato revealed a "secret" about the horses in trainer Hiroshi Hironaka's (Masanobu Ando) stable: "Actually, it's a set built in the studio. We can't bring real horses into the studio, so those horses are robots. The assistant director and art staff are moving their heads and such, and the horses moving outside the window are being moved on a cart, so they're moving in a parallel line (laughs)."
He further commented, "We were able to complete the script early on, so we built the story from episode 1 to the final episode, laying out all the plot points. If you watch it all in one go, I think you'll understand how the story connects, so I hope you enjoy it." Regarding a sequel, he revealed, "I asked (the original author) Kazuma Hayami to do his best to write one."
