The anime "The Strongest Dregs Prince's Secret Struggle for the Throne," based on a popular light novel from the novel submission site "Shosetsuka ni Naro," will begin airing as a TV anime in July. The main cast has also been announced, with Yuma Uchida as Arnold Reeks Adler, Kikunosuke Toya Manaka Iwami von Kleinert, Maaya Uchida as Erna von Amsberg, and Kaede Hondo as Linfia.
This work is a light novel written by Tamba and illustrated by Yuunagi. Arnold, the seventh prince of the powerful Ardrasia Empire, was called the "washed-up prince" because his twin brother, Leonard, was so talented that he had sucked everything out of him. However, with the sudden death of the first prince, the struggle for the throne intensifies, and Arnold decides to get serious. On the public stage, he plays the role of an incompetent washed-up prince, but behind the scenes, he operates with overwhelming power as "Silver," one of only five SS-rank adventurers on the continent, and controls the struggle for the throne from the shadows. The light novel is published by Sneaker Bunko (KADOKAWA), and the comic adaptation is also popular. The series has sold over 1.8 million copies in total.
The staff has also been announced, with Yuji Yanase, known for "The Man Picked Up by the Gods," directing, Kazuyuki Fudeyasu handling series composition, and Kazuko Tadano in charge of character design. MAHO FILM, known for "The Blue Wolves of Mibu," will be producing the series.
A teaser visual featuring the twin princes Arnold and Leonard has been released.
Original author Tamba commented, "It has been decided that 'The Strongest Dregs Prince's Covert Struggle for the Throne' will be made into a TV anime. I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the readers who have supported us this far, and to everyone who has been involved in the work. I myself am looking forward to the day when Arnold and his friends' story will be brought to life on screen and delivered to everyone in a new form. Please look forward to the anime version of 'The Dregs Prince'."
Yuma Uchida, who plays Arnold, the prince who is left over after drinking tea, said, "This animation has a lot of lines. It's difficult to translate all of that into the character's feelings, but I'm having fun doing it. Arnold is a quick-witted person, so I want to make sure that my thinking doesn't get sluggish and I don't lose the sense of speed."
Totani, who plays Leonard, Arnold's twin brother, commented, "Leonard is a steady and kind person, and compared to Arnold, he is perhaps a little too kind, but he has a strong core and you can feel his strong will in what he says. I am conscious of conveying those aspects in my performance. Also, I felt the bond between the two of them in how completely he trusts Arnold, and I thought it was wonderful, so I am especially careful in performing the scenes where the two of them talk!"
Ishimi, who plays Fine, the daughter of the Duke of Kleinert, said, "I think that Fine's elegance as a ducal daughter, her inner strength, and her naturally cute nature are some of the great charms of this work, so I am trying my best to bring them out. Despite having a beautiful appearance that has earned her the nickname 'Blau Mewe,' I feel that Fine's wonderful qualities are her kind heart and approachable nature."
Maaya Uchida, who plays Elna, the commander of the Royal Guard of the Ardrasia Empire and a childhood friend of Arnold and Leonard, commented, "Elna is a very strong and cool person. I am drawn to her excellent abilities, which she has used to forge her own path. But it's not just her cool side; when she's talking to her childhood friend Arnold, she also shows a down-to-earth, girlish side, which I find very appealing."
Hondo, who plays Linfia, a young A-rank adventurer, said, "My first impression of Linfia's appearance was that she was a 'boyish and cute girl,' but after doing the voice recording, I felt that she was 'like a samurai.' Of course, she's not a samurai, but she has a very serious and loyal personality, and I think she's a wonderful person. I'm mainly focusing on that aspect when I play her."
