A special screening event for the film "Ryuichi Sakamoto | Trio Tour 2012" (produced and distributed by WOWOW), which captures Ryuichi Sakamoto's trio performance, will be held on April Getsuku at 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku (Shinjuku Ward, Tokyo).
In 2012, Sakamoto released the album "THREE," featuring a trio arrangement of piano, cello, and violin, and held the "Trio Tour 2012" across Japan and South Korea. The film "Ryuichi Sakamoto | Trio Tour 2012" was filmed during the Tokyo performance of the tour, with the sound reconstructed to suit the theatrical space. Sakamoto plays piano, Jacques Morelenbaum plays cello, and Judy Kang plays violin, and the film has been showing in theaters since March 27th.
The special screening event, titled "'1996' Analog Listening Session × 'Ryuichi Sakamoto | Trio Tour 2012' Screening," will be held on Getsuku at 7 PM. The venue, 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku, is equipped with the "SAION -SR EDITION-" sound system supervised by Sakamoto.
The event will feature a special listening session of the 30th-anniversary remastered limited edition analog record of Sakamoto's 1996 trio album "1996," followed by a screening of the film "Trio Tour 2012." "1996" was Sakamoto's first album produced with a trio, and "Trio Tour 2012" is a video work capturing the trio's final performance. This is a rare opportunity to experience both the "beginning" and the "culmination" of the trio at once. A professional-grade analog turntable, the "REVOX T 77," will be used to play the record.
Tickets will go on sale from 12:00 AM on April 2nd on the 109 Cinemas Premium Shinjuku official website. Cinema Point members can purchase tickets from 9:00 PM on April 1st. Tickets will also be sold at the theater from opening time on April 2nd (if tickets sell out online, there will be no in-store sales).
The price is 6,500 yen for "CLASS S" (6,000 yen for Cinema Points members) and 4,500 yen for "CLASS A" (4,000 yen for Cinema Points members). Invitation tickets and free admission are not accepted. You can use the main lounge from one hour before the screening starts, and a welcome concession service (soft drinks and popcorn) is also included. In addition, those with "CLASS S" tickets can use the premium lounge "OVERTURE".
